Weller Photography

If you haven’t had the chance as of yet to check out the Niagara-based band “CRUTCH” – you must do so!  They have a strong industry sound, with a beautiful blend of original feel to their music – even when playing covers, many feel compelled to still watch and listen to these guys – they are absolutely fantastic!

And not to mention, they also won the 2011 Niagara Music & Arts Expo Battle of the Bands, and were nominated for Best Rock Group of the Year at the Niagara Music Awards!!

I’ve had the opportunity to work with and get to know the guys from the band – and they are awesome to chat with, as well and equally awesome to hear. The guys put on a CD Release Part at Rockford’s House of Rock in St. Catharines on June 18, 2011 – and also invited along NMA Female Vocalist of the Year Nominee Danica Bucci, The Roper Show, and Citizen – who all put on amazing performances throughout the evening! (unfortunately we could not attend the Citizen show – will catch you next time guys!)

Gonz Productions & Renaissance Salon hosted an amazing show at Barracuda Pretty on March 23rd!

THESE KIDS WEAR CROWNS put on one kickin’ show, and were the second band to play, along with an opening performance from  I Got the Girl, and the headliner for the evening Fefe Dobson – An all-around amazing line-up!

Niagara-based pop-punk band I GOT THE GIRL opened up for These Kids Wear Crowns & Fefe Dobson at Barracuda Pretty in St. Catharines on March 23.

THE KINGS put on an awesome performance at the Hard Rock Cafe Niagara Falls on October 28th!  The Kings are best known for their platinum album “The Kings are Here” and more with the billboard top 100 single hit “This Beat Goes On / Switching to Glide”.

This special concert was part of the “PINKTOBER Breast Cancer 2010 Campaign” – which marks the 11th year anniversary of Hard Rock International’s support of search for a cure for breast cancer.

The concert was awesome, and it was great to hang out with the band afterwards at the “Hard Rock Backdrop” -  thanks to David, Mister Zero, Peter, and Todd – you guys Rock!

Our friends THE JOYS were in St. Catharines on the night of October 23rd to play a show at The Street Tap and Eatery. This was a bittersweet night, as this was the last JOYS show for the band’s guitarist,  Mike McKyes.  Our good friend Mike has decided to leave the band to begin a career in sound engineering.

The Joys put on their usual kickass show – which was extra special – and went for a few extra songs – just so we could all see Mike rock out one more time with his awesome bandmates.

The Joys have brought in a new guitarist for their upcoming shows, and will be continuing on.  We will all miss Mike very much, but are happy to see him making some big and positive changes in his career path and we wish him all the very best!

On October 22nd, LIVE BAIT  performed a great show at The Street Tap and Eatery in St. Catharines!  We went to check out their show, and had a great time with the guys from the band!   Live Bait is a group of local musicians banding together to bring Niagara a foot tapping good time.  The lead singer , who is also our good friend and Singer/Songwriter Josh Mills and his band played three full sets of live music, covering a selection of songs, including hits from Johnny Cash, Pearl Jam and Blue Rodeo.

We had an awesome evening on October 16th at the Mansion House in St. Catharines! A kickin’ night of great music by The Gas Station Junkies, The Mike Cameron Band, and famed UK Band “TURBOGEIST” – known as well for it’s guitarist/singer Jimmy Jagger, the son of the legendary Rolling Stones main man Mick Jagger.

We arrived just in time for the Mike Cameron band show, then a quick hangout and fun portraits with Chris Jensen from the Gas Station Junkies – and ended the night with a kick ass performance by Turbogeist!

We enjoyed a wonderful & ultra-kick ass amazing STYX show at the Fallsview Casino Avalon Ballroom on September 30, 2010.  We were provided with two fifth row floor seats which were pretty cool, especially for views of incredible Tommy Shaw guitar riffs with band members Lawrence Gowan, James Young, Ricky Phillips, Todd Sucherman, and Chuck Panozzo. We were also provided with a photo pass to photograph the first three songs – which was under venue request – however it was great to sit back and enjoy the majority of the epic show.

We even had the opportunity to meet with Lawrence, Tommy, and James following their performance!

The STYX concert on September 30th was definitely one of the very best concerts that we both have ever seen, and the feeling left behind from the show will always be timeless.

Thanks to everyone for a fantastic night and thanks Lawrence, it is always a pleasure to work alongside you! Cheers.

ROCK n’ ROLL RE-Release!

In the Spring of 2009, I was invited to Toronto to be one of the photographers at the 30th Anniversary of Canadian Musician  Magazine.  I was glad to hear that the headlining band that evening was THE KINGS – who are best well-known for their hit  “This Beat Goes On/Switchin’ To Glide”.

The Kings are David Diamond, Mister Zero, Pete Nunn, and Dale Harrison (formerly of The Headstones).

It was an awesome performance that night, and it was great to meet the guys from the band!
